WHAT: Youth Night 2010
WHEN: Monday, December 27, 2010, 6-8pm
WHERE: The Historic Douglass Theatre
WHO: YOU!!!!

So you're out for the holidays, it's after Christmas, and you're chillin' at home looking for something to do. You want something fun, but you don't want to spend money 'cause you're tapped out from all the shopping you did last week. Then you start seeing all these videos, facebook messages, tweets, and texts about something called YOUTH NIGHT 2010 . Don't know what I'm talking about? Click on the video below:

So your problem is solved! Not only is it one of the hottest events of the year, but it's also FREE!!! So now that you've decided you're going to go. You want to tell other people about it, but realize you're just crunk 'cause you saw the promo and liked the beat, but don't really know what YOUTH NIGHT 2010 is really about. It's all good. Everything you need to know about YOUTH NIGHT 2010 is right here:

Youth Night is an annual event that takes place in Macon, GA (aka the Mactown) at the Historic Douglass Theatre (aka the Douglass) on the second night of Kwanzaa which celebrates Kujichagulia (a long Swahili word that means Self-Determination).
Now contrary to popular belief, Kwanzaa is not a Black Christmas, a substitute for Christmas, or an African Hanukkah (You'd be surprised what people come up with). Kwanzaa is not religious or exclusive to one race which means anyone can celebrate it. Kwanzaa means "first fruits" and is based off of the harvest festivals of West Africa. It was created by Maulana Karenga in 1965 to celebrate our African heritage ('cause everybody has African roots regardless of race), pay tribute to our ancestors, and reflect on principles of community development.

The principle for Youth Night is Kujichagulia (Self-Determination) which means to Define ourselves, name ourselves, and speak for ourselves instead of being defined, named, and spoken for by others. This is important especially to us as youth because so many of our peers try to define others as LAME if we don't compromise our values to fit in. Young girls and women are often called a HO or B**** by people around them instead of their names. We call ourselves N***** as a trend whether we know the word's history or not instead of finding something better to call each other. Most of the things we do as youth are geared towards acceptance which comes at the cost of us losing who we are. It is one of the hardest things to be different but it is crucial because you can only fulfill your purpose in the world by being ourselves (which means being different).

Youth Night is produced, promoted, and hosted entirely by youth primarily between the ages of 9 and 25 under the direction of the Kwanzaa Cultural Access Center. This gives us a chance to learn to lead and be recognized for doing something positive, and it also makes the event relevant to youth because we choose issues that are relevant to us to focus on. This year's focus will be on "Valuing Yourself" which is about recognizing and embracing what makes you special and why it is important to be yourself, and "Stopping the Violence" which is about looking at the cause of violence in the community and finding practical ways to bring it to an end.

Step up to the Mic!
One of my favorite parts of Youth Night is the Talent showcase where
THE STAGE IS YOURS!!!
We are calling all singers, dancers, rappers, step teams, bands, etc. The open mic is open to the community. Not sure if you want to perform? No pressure. You can decide when you get there as long as time permits. Here are the performance guidelines:

-Performances must be 3-5 min. and we would appreciate if they are good (we won't boo, but you don't want to tempt people)
-Performances should be POSITIVE
-No cussin or vulgar/sexual language in any part of performance
-No revealing clothes
-No sexual or suggestive dance moves
In other words, KEEP IT CLEAN (cause your mic can be cut off)!

Seriously though, we just want to show people that you can have a good time doing something positive 'cause believe me, at Youth Night...IT GOES DOWN!!!!

If you are interested in performing please call 478-361-2880, email vinson.muhammad@gmail.com, or just come that night ready to do your thing with a LABELED cd if you need music.

So now that you know, don't be selfish. SPREAD THE WORD!!!
Thanks. God-willing, I'll see you there.

Bismillah

These are the songs of the Priceless Giveaway. The songs are numbered in a very different way from typical albums. The larger number represents the number of the track on this album. The smaller number represents the tracks number in relationship to all the songs I have released. I do this to show that all of my work is connected and ongoing, therefore, my music never ends, there are only pauses in my creative process. I had the pleasure of working with a host of producers, artists, and engineers who all brought different elements to the project. As this blog continues, God-willing you will learn a little bit about each of these great and special people. Until then, this is your introduction to the "Priceless Giveaway". K.I.P. Peace

I Love Music Lyrics

I love music, others got crushes

Just in it for the money; that's lame get some crutches

On the mic playin' games, lyric double dutchin'

Mouth movin' on the track, but you ain't sayin' nothin'

Lip synchin' to a popular tune

Party, Party, Party like cake and baloons

Music is life and not just one part

It Comes from every emotion that you feel in your heart

Thought is my art; your ears are my canvas

Feeling is my medium; life is my practice

Sound, rhythm, these are my utensils

Transcribe thoughts on a pad with a pencil

Carried over instruments in different keys

That unlock imagination so your mind is free

This is Universal got the whole world feelin' me

Ya'll make songs, I make history

The Art of a serious Artist: Priceless

There's something's money can't buy...like my newest release"The Priceless Giveaway"!

That's right! For everyone who has been asking, it's finally here! My second music project entitled "The Priceless Giveaway"!For all of those music lovers who miss real music, this is classic material that was made to stand the test of time. Towards the finish of this project I was trying to think of how much I would sell it for and realized that if I charged you what it was worth, all ya'll would be broke! So I decided to give the world a gift by not putting you through that type of stress and decided to give it to ya'll for the world's favorite price of...FREE!

Well almost anyway. I'm giving the first 100 copies away for free and selling the rest for $5

I am also doing this to encourage us to appreciate the talented artists among us that we take for granted. So often we are willing to pay top dollar for art that is deemed great by society's standards, but don't value our own community's talent and spend money to support our own.You have to comprehend that this is like giving you a Mona Lisa, a diamond ring, a Ferrari for FREE!!!!! This Project features

Artists: SOUF,David Fuller,Green Tea,Ill-Lyterati

Producers:SOUF,Sabir Muhammad,Sekou Muhammad,Spencer Greene,Brandon Phillips-Taylor, and more

and cover ART by:Lionel Daniels,Christian Smith,Atu,and another surprise artist"The Priceless Giveaway"featuring the hit singles "Put It On Repeat" and "The AUC Chant"So yeah... April 15th.... We settin' it OFF!!!!BE THERE or BE IN THE WRONG PLACE!K.I.PKeep it Positive. Peace
